Commentator Marcos Villatoro says even though that vacation you've wanted to take seems more out of reach then ever, it doesn't mean you don't deserve a few days off for some leisure or time with your family. The Take Back Your Time (www.TimeDay.org)organization is holding a VACATION MATTERS SUMMIT in Seattle in mid-August in support of the Paid Vacation Act of 2009, H.R. 2564, which has been introduced by Democratic Congressman Alan Grayson of Florida.
A very strong case can be made for federal legislation to give American workers a nationally-guaranteed right to a paid vacation. Americans have certainly waited long enough for this, since ours is the last developed country to make paid vacation time a right in national law. This is a modest bill, but it's important and long overdue.
