As we all recover from what may have seemed like the 24/7 cacophony of the last couple of months of Campaign 2012, we have a story on tonight's "SoCal Connected" that's a good reminder that we need to keep an eye on our elected and appointed representatives all year long -- not just during election season.
That point was driven home when the sleepy southeast Los Angeles County city of Bell exploded into our collective consciousness. Allegations of voter fraud and misappropriation of public funds led to voter recall of City Council members, arrests and indictments of city employees and state laws designed to prevent that kind of thing from happening again. Although the headlines aren't as frequent, the Bell scandal continues to smolder.
Tonight, in an exclusive investigation, Vince Gonzales reports on allegations of inappropriate behavior by public officials that are angering residents in a city just a stone's throw from Bell: Huntington Park.
The full report from producer Karen Foshay and correspondent Vince Gonzales is on "SoCal Connected", tonight at 7 and 10:30 on KCET. And after the segment airs on TV, you can view it on our video page.
