Studio A is a performance music series that digs deep into the new sounds of the American musical vernacular. Filmed at the KCET studios in Burbank in front
of a live audience, the uninterrupted 30-minute musical sets and episodes allow
musicians to tell the story behind their songs and the influence that culture,
history, and geography has had on their craft. Studio A airs on KCET every Tuesday and Friday at 10:00 p.m., with a radio simulcast on alternative public radio
station KSCN, as well as national broadcasts on LINK TV.
With Studio A, we are providing a powerful media platform for some of the most current, cutting-edge and influential music coming out of Southern California, and we are sharing this artistry with local and national audiences.
Back in the 1970's, young artists such as Cat Stevens, Kris Kristofferson, Jim Croce, and Sonny Rollins (to name a few) stopped by the KCET studios, allowing us to capture a moment in the life of the city. We want to do the same today - capture a moment in time, a mixtape so to speak, of Los Angeles in the early 21st century.
