What's a week without the continued adventures of KCET's Golden State-trotting hero, Huell Howser? It's like autumn without leaves, that's what. This week, Huell makes stops all over California -- from eggs to pork rinds to the sci-fi capital of Southern California.

Monday @ 7:30 PM -- "Fake Food"

Doing absolutely nothing to fight the stereotype that L.A. is full of phonies, Iwasaki Images has been producing fake food items since 1975. Why, you may ask? Well, the Gardena-based business is ready with an explanation. Fake food is used in menu photography, food displays, décor and even to teach people about portion control. Learn more at the Iwasaki Images homepage, where you can actually watch the whole "California's Gold" episode right now!

Tuesday @ 7:30 PM -- "Egg Collection"

Just because food is real, however, doesn't mean that it's for eating. The San Bernardino County Museum is home to the world's fifth-largest egg collection. Allow Huell to tell you all about it, so as to help you plan the perfect date with that the dreamy oologist you've had your eye on.

Tuesday @ 8 PM -- "Ackermansion"

Get psyched up for Halloween with a tour of the Los Angeles home of the late Forrest J. Ackerman. Not only was this man one of the greatest promoters of the science fiction genre, but he also actually coined the term "sci-fi." In this episode, Huell walks through Ackerman's home -- the "Ackermansion" -- and checks out the vast collection of sci-fi memorabilia stored within.

Wednesday @ 7:30 PM -- "Pork Rinds"

You know what? We're going to call them "chicharrones" from here on out, because that name sounds more appetizing than "pork rinds." But regardless of what you call them, you have to have respect for the Gaytan family, which has been making chicharrones and other snack foods since 1935. Today, Gaytan Foods is the United States' largest producer of pickled pork products ("cueritos") and Pickles Pig's Feet ("patitas")!

Thursday @ 7:30 PM -- "Lutefisk"

Some people can't wrap their minds around pork rinds. Those people probably won't be the first to try lutefisk, a rather strong-smelling fish dish that comes to us from Norway. Huell heads to the Sons of Norway Lodge in Van Nuys to observe the feast. But will he try it?

Learn more about how lutefisk is prepared:

Friday @ 7:30 PM -- "Hall of Justice"

Huell learns about the gallery of rogues that the Hall of Justice has hosted in its day -- from Bugsy Siegel to Sirhan Sirhan to Charles Manson.
