Where's Huell (Sept. 12-16)

Monday - Sept. 12, 7:30pm: Museum/Cafe - Huell stops at the 101 Cafe, the oldest cafe on Rt. 101 in California, and grabs a bite of the great food they've been serving since 1928. Then its onto the Museum of Music Making, they cover all popular music from the 1890's up to today. Check out the video below for a peek inside this historic drive-in diner.
Tuesday - Sept. 13, 7:30pm: Catalina Casino - Huell gets special tour of a California icon: the Catalina Casino. It has been the focal point of Santa Catalina since it opened over eighty years ago on May 29, 1929. Completely restored just a few years ago, the ballroom retains its original romantic style - with beautiful rose-hued walls, an arching, fifty-foot ceiling and five Tiffany chandeliers.
Wednesday - Sept. 14, 7:30pm: Tarantula - Huell's off to Henry W. Coe State Park located about 25 miles south of San Jose. It's their annual Tarantula Fest where there will be more than 20 varieties of tarantulas on display, nature walks to search for tarantulas, not to mention live music and Get-Your-Picture-Taken-With-A-Tarantula!
Thursday - Sept. 15, 7:30pm: We All Live in a Watershed - Everyone lives in a watershed. We rely on watersheds for drinking water, hydroelectric power and recreation, and of course flora and fauna call them home. Travel to a key watershed to find out how watersheds are managed and protected.
Friday - Sept. 16, 7:30pm: Flagpoles - Huell visits two historic flagpoles. The first was (at one time) the tallest flagpole in the world, but it's located in Calipatria, which sits 184 feet below sea level. So with its 184 foot pole, the Calipatria flag flies just at sea level. Then on to Livermore where the flagpole has an even stranger history... it's being carved into various wooden chotchkies including smaller flags!
Saturday- Sept. 17, 7:30pm: Singing Cowboys - Meet the famous western duo, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, (and Trigger) and hear them sing their trademark song; meet Herb Jeffries who starred in black westerns in the late 1930s; and watch the festive 17th Annual Black Cowboy Parade in Oakland. Saturday- Sept. 17, 7:30pm: Ukulele Man - Huell spends an afternoon with a 97-year-old ukulele maestro, Bill Tapia. With a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face, Bill shares with all of us his remarkable and colorful life story and his lively music. See Bill Tapia in action:
Sunday- Sept. 18, 7:30pm: Havana - Huell spends ten days in Cuba and brings his Hi-8 video. We get a rare look at Havana and a feel for life in this "off limits" country.
