"Sanctions on Iran and the Prospect of Military Intervention" On April 5, 2012 Dr. Colin Kahl and Dr. Matthew Kroening of Georgetown University, debated the effectiveness of international sanctions on Iran and their effectiveness. At a time when a military strike and intervention seemed possible by Israel or the United States both men debated whether one should take place and what impact one would have. Dr. Kahl argued that a military strike would be premature, prove ineffective and have negative repercussions in the region and globally. Dr. Kroening argued in favor of a military strike to target Iran’s nuclear facilities, as the risks of a strike are less grave than a nuclear-armed Iran.
