“Obama and the Middle East”
On May 21, 2012 author and Professor of Middle Eastern Politics and International Relations at the London School of Economics and Political Science, Fawaz Gerges, presented his evaluation of President Obama’s foreign policy with regard to the Middle East against his stated objectives prior to taking office. Placing President Obama’s engagement against the broader context of U.S. foreign policy since 9/11, Mr. Gerges examines key areas which have posed a challenge to President Obama’s administration, including negotiations with Israel and Palestine, troop levels in Iraq and Afghanistan, and engagement with the Arab Spring.
