Harumi's Original Sauces
Ingredients:
Yield: Serves 4
300-400g sliced beef
yakiniku sauce
miso sauce
1 pack red leaf lettuce
For Yakiniku Sauce
1/2 cup / 100ml red wine
2 tbsp honey
30g sugar
40g coarse sugar
1 cup / 200ml soy sauce
1 tsp miso (any type)
1/4 apple, grated
1/4 onion, grated
1 garlic clove, grated
1 piece ginger, grated
2 tbsp sesame oil
3 tbsp ground sesame seeds
For Miso Sauce
200g miso
30g sugar
1/4 cup / 50ml sake
1/2 cup / 100ml mirin sweet cooking sake
Instructions:
- Prepare the Yakiniku sauce: Put the red wine in a small pan and bring to a boil. Simmer it over low heat for 1 minute to let the alcohol evaporate. Add the honey, sugar, coarse sugar, soy sauce and miso, mix and boil again. When the coarse sugar has melted, turn the heat off. When the mixture has cooled down, add the grated apple, onion, garlic and ginger, sesame oil and ground sesame seeds, and mix together.
- Prepare the miso sauce: Combine the miso, sake, mirin and sugar in a pan, mix well and simmer on medium heat. When it starts bubbling, turn the heat down to low and simmer down for about 20 to 30 minutes, stirring constantly so that it doesn't get burned.
- Toss the beef with 1/2 cup of yakiniku sauce and let it stand for a few minutes. Grill or saute the meat both sides.
- Serve with some extra Yakiniku sauce, Miso sauce and leaf lettuce.

Hi Blackbga,
Are you wondering about the BBQ sauces on the show or the actual grill? We've posted the recipe for the sauces made at the link below and will investigate about the grill. Thanks!

I enjoyed today's show and would also like to know the manufacturer of the barbeque. I haven't see anything like it in the U.S.

Hi guys,
A search for stores that sell Japanese grills led me to Anzen Hardware in LittleTokyo. (http://www.yelp.com/biz/anzen-hardware-los-angeles) I can't confirm that they sell the grill featured in the program, but it's a good place to start.
If you have more questions, I'll be happy to help you again!
