Gail Sheehy, author of "Passages in Caregiving," gives a poignant perspective on the benefits of caregiving. "It's a beautiful opportunity to be compassionate and tender and intimate in a way that is really only possible when the end of the story is the end of one person's life," Sheehy observes. Although it marks the death of a loved one, it can also open doors to deeper and more meaningful relationships with family and friends.
