The Correia family's roots go back to Portugal and Costa Rica. Manuel Correia came to the United States as a young man and met his wife Anita 67 years ago, during a trip to Costa Rica. Settling in San Diego the Correias raised five children. The eldest of the siblings, Algerine, now takes care of her elderly parents.
