Sonia and Natalia Alvarado
Sonia Alvarado recently had to put her 78-year-old mother Natalia in an assisted living facility after Natalia wandered away from home. It was just becoming too stressful to keep Natalia, who suffers from Alzheimer's at home. For Sonia, it was a gut wrenching decision, going against her Latina upbringing that you take care of your parents at home but Natalia's safety had to come first. It's been a financial burden because her mother doesn't qualify for government assistance. Finding a facility they could afford was no easy task.
