Family life for the Leidig family took a couple of hard hits when mother Dwan Leidig had a serious stroke and then her husband died while she was recovering. Their only child, daughter Kristin Leidig-Sears, has a full time job and a family of her own, but says she always knew there would come a time when it was her turn.

There is a new buzz around a subset of caregivers known as the "Sandwich Generation". These are caregivers who find themselves squeezed in between caring for younger loved ones such as children, and their elder parents or other elder family members.
At some point you may feel concern or even fear that your parents should no longer drive an automobile. This is one of the most important deliberations, considerations and possible actions you will probably face as the family caregiver.
Today, driving is a necessity of life. The thought of losing one's license after a lifetime of driving can be devastating. Fortunately, there are resources to keep seniors safely on the road.
Occupational therapist, Purnima Karia, tells how she assesses a senior's ability to continue driving.
