The Urquiza family's roots go back to Chile where mother and father were born. In the early 1960's Mr. Urquiza--an engineer-- immigrated to the United States, making the trip on a gunpowder boat. He put down roots in Chicago and soon sent for his wife. In the 1970's the family moved to California, where opportunities for computer engineers were plentiful. The family of three sons and three daughters remain close. Mr. Urquiza passed away in 1996 and during his illness he was well cared for by his wife Marta. Now, as Mrs. Urquiza faces health problems of her own, the children she raised are caring for her.
