With CB1 Gallery between installations, Crewest and EVFA having closed their doors, the January 2013 Downtown Los Angeles Art Walk is a low-key introduction to a new year. That is not to say you will not be able to find solid art around downtown this month. Here are some of the highlights for Thursday, Jan. 10:
Art Walk Lounge brings working class concepts with Dee Craig, a Belfast artist "who uses bold hard lines to represent the strength and steadfastness that working class people ooze." Also in the lounge is Nick Begnaud, a artist who uses manipulations and media mash-ups shaped by a world view from being raised in the steel mill community of Youngstown, Ohio. "Dreams" is a new exhibition featuring Francis Calimmlimm, Marlene Capell, Gerald Green, AJ Herrera, Michael Moon, Michael Ruffini, Gary Salazar, Cynthia Ann Swan, and Ana Lourdes Villarruel.

Carol Cirillo Stanley brings in a new gallery show, beginning with her photography for "Paris Streets."

REDCAT offerings include the continuing of "Raspberry Poser," the first Los Angeles exhibition for New York-based artist Jordan Wolfson.
MOCA GRAND AVE: "Destroy the Picture: Painting the Void, 1949-1962" closes Jan. 14. In response, MOCA and Los Angeles Filmforum will screen "Breaking the Plane" on January 10. Plus "Jason Schmidt: Some Los Angeles Artists" runs through Mar. 18.
