The Huntington
What Caused the Civil War? A Just Cause: Voices of the American Civil War explores the war-time debate on the reasons and goals of the war through correspondence, pamphlets, cartoons, prints, diaries, and more. Complements the major photographs exhibition, "A Strange and Fearful Interest: Death, Mourning and Memory in the American Civil War", which opens in October.

Japanese American National Museum
The Giant Robot Biennial 3 features a gallery of eight emerging artists and a "customized vinyl figure collection." The exhibit, which has previously drawn thousands of visitors, is created in collaboration with Eric Nakamura, owner of Asian American pop culture hub Giant Robot.

MOLAA
The works of Colombian artist Débora Arango arrive in the United States in collaboration with Museo de Arte Moderno de Medellin MAMM for the exhibit Sociales: Débora Arango Llega Hoy. Arango worked as an artist in an extremely conservative and Catholic environment, and her female nudes were the topic of much controversy between the 1930s and 1970s.

Lola Álvarez Bravo: The Photography of an Era, examines one of Mexico's most important photographers from the 20th century. Although often overshadowed by her husband and other contemporaries, "Lola Álvarez Bravo's production combined commercial practice and teaching with her personal artistic concerns, including experimenting with various photographic techniques such as photomontage and photocollage, and the exploration of political issues of her time, which contributed to the development of modern Mexican photography."

The Getty
It all begins with a simple line. At least that's what Gustav Klimpt discovered. He based his seminal modernist works on drawings, particularly of female nudes. "It was through drawing that Klimt developed his momentous themes of human suffering, longing for love and happiness, and the cycle of life from birth to death." The Magic of Line is the first retrospective fully dedicated to Klimpt's drawings.
