The Santa Monica KCET Cinema Series ended yesterday with a screening of the Johnny Mercer scored film, 'Breakfast at Tiffany's.'
About the film:
To celebrate Johnny Mercer we will show the 1961 classic Breakfast At Tiffany's starring Audrey Hepburn and, of course prominently featuring Mercer's and Henry Mancini's Oscar winning Moon River. This movie directed by Blake Edwards and based on the Truman Capote book is still a style and trend-setter today with numerous 'Tiffany's' inspired art and fashion. The film also won an Oscar for Mancini's score and premiered in October 1961, 50 years almost to the day of our screening. Preceding the movie will be a discussion of the film with Ginny Mancini, wife of Henry Mancini .
After the film, host Pete Hammond led a Q&A with Ginny Mancini, wife of Henry Mancini. Audience member learned more about Mancini's and Mercer's working relationship, the creation of 'Moon River,' the the first screening of the film. Below, check out some pictures taken at the event.
So what did you think of the whole series? Which were your favorite films? Tell us in our KCET Cinema Series discussion board!
