PHOTO GALLERY: KCET Cinema Series- The Artist

The North Hollywood Cinema Series kicked off last night with a screening of Michel Hazanavicius's 'The Artist.' This is the first film, of eight that will be screened at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in North Hollywood.
About the film:
The film is by French director Michel Hazanavicius, a charming story set in Hollywood's silent movie era. The central characters are a fading silent film movie star played by Jean Dujardin, who recently won Best Actor at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival for his role, and the beautiful rising starlet of the new talkies portrayed by actress Berenice Bejo. The film is reminiscent of the real love affair of John Gilbert and Greta Garbo. The film itself is silent, shot in black & white and on location in Los Angeles.
After the screening, host Pete Hammond led a Q&A with writer/director Michel Haznavicius, and actors Berenice Bejo and Jean Dujardin. The audience liked the film and asked the director what influenced him into making a silent film. Below, check out some pics that were taken at the screening.
