Two Poems by Peggy Barker

Awakened Silence

The peacefulness of a snowstorm
The drippings of a worn out faucet,
To hear our own thoughts in the midst of commotion,
To hum a tune from the confines of our hearts,
Awakened Silence

Feeling unison by the arch of a brow,
A baby shifting in an unlit room,
The art of intuition,
The demise of recognition,
Awakened Silence

The epitome of a desperate murmur,
Stealing away to the Almighty in appeal,
Fulfilling the hunger of the universe,
Standing firm, adhering to change,
Awakened silence
