Agbey Hommey came to Los Angeles from Ghana in 2006 to further his education in art. In our video interview, he talks about enrolling in the sign painting program at Los Angeles Trade Technical College and how he maintains a career as a sign painter and a fine artist.
In Ghana artists are not much appreciated, while for Agbey the reception in Los Angeles has been much the opposite. Along with signs he paints water colors that depict scenes from his childhood in Ghana. He uses both of these mediums to express himself and show his skill as an artist.
