In collaboration with Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa's L.A. River Day of Service, Councilmember Ed P. Reyes, Friends of the L.A. River, and L.A.'s Grammy Award-winning Ozomatli, KCET would like to invite you to participate in KCET's Departures LA River StoryShare day.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 30, 2011, between 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. at El Rio de Los Angeles State Park in the Cypress Park neighborhood. Take the opportunity to share your stories, experiences, and pictures of life along the river with the enjoyment of food and festivities which includes a welcoming from Mayor Villaraigosa and music from Ozomatli.
Departures StoryShare is an ongoing series of community recording events aimed at capturing the stories of individuals who have strong personal memories and history attached to their neighborhoods. Our goal is to create a collective narrative cartography of neighborhood stories by exposing the subjective and personal history through the eyes of community members.
The stories collected will be recorded through video and audio. During and following the L.A. River StoryShare events, the public can upload personal stories to the KCET story platform.
We invite you to join the fun and the community with KCET, Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa, Councilmember Ed P. Reyes and Ozomatli for this historic documentation of life along the river. You can hear the stories shared at our last StoryShare event here.
Please sign up below as more information will follow.

Support for the Departures is provided through these funders as well as local community partners and viewers like you.
