THIS BUSTLING COMMUNITY CENTER was built on a two acre parcel of land donated to the city in 1929 by Carlin G. Smith, a developer who contributed to the growth of Los Angeles in the 1920s. The center, however, was abandoned over time until a small team of volunteers from Mt. Washington restored it in the 1970s.
Enjoy an afternoon picnic at one of these recreational center's barbecue pits, along with basketball courts and children's play areas. The park is located in the center of Los Angeles' Mt. Washington neighborhood. For lunch, head down to Chico's Mexican Restaurant for a delicious plate of enchiladas.
CAR: Take the Pasadena Freeway (CA-110), west on Avenue 43 exit, then right on Figueroa St. Make a left on Avenue 45, another left on Marmion Way, and a right on Avenue 45. Take another right on Canon Crest St. and left on Avenue 46. Parking is available on the street.
