Ed Reyes, Los Angeles City Councilman for District 14
Glassell Park native Ed Reyes is currently serving his third term representing District 1 as council member for the city of Los Angeles. His down to earth, practical and compassionate understanding of community and local government has brought a new breath of life to Northeast L.A. resulting in a dramatic reduction in crime, an increase of green space, more jobs, and improved schools. With his architecture and urban planning background coupled with rooted interested in the neighborhoods he grew up in, Councilmember Reyes has successfully spearheaded major civic plans to improve transportation, affordable housing, and public space, including the Los Angeles River Revitalization Master Plan and the completion of the Metro Gold Line which runs through Highland Park. Councilman Reyes describes the democratic planning process for the Metro Gold Line and how it contributes to improved lifestyles of Highland Parkers.
