Robert Winter, a renowned architectural historian, is a professor at Occidental College. Winter is best known for his contributions to the history of California's Arts and Crafts Movement, having coined the term "Arroyo Culture." He has authored various books including The California Bungalow in 1980 and American Bungalow Style in 1996, among many. Since 1970 Winter has resided and owned the Batchelder House, a historic home in Pasadena once belonging to title-maker and prominent leader of the Arts and Crafts Movement, Ernest Batchelder. In "Arroyo Culture" Robert explains the Arts and Crafts Movement along with the motivations of the artists who lived and worked along the Arroyo.
