Ryan Ballinger is the owner of The York gastropub in Highland Park. After moving to Los Angeles to become a writer, he found his calling as a bartender and manager, which led him to York Boulevard. The York, housed in a historic neighborhood building, is Ryan's response to a lack of restaurants and bars in the area. This establishment represents the transitioning neighborhood that is Highland Park, and he is featured in our "Reinterpreting Highland Park" chapter.
