Los Feliz Mural
As the river winds past Griffith Park and under the Los Feliz bridge, it transforms from a concrete channel into an waterway rich with wildlife and vegetation. This stretch is distinguished by its soft bottom as the pressure of the water table prevents concrete from setting. With Highway 2 and 5 in the vicinity and with numerous parks dotting the river, the banks and trails are easily accessed. Recreation along the river has become a focus of community leaders and river advocates alike, believing that a local involvement with the river and its nature could have a significant impact on community building and development.

Whether commuting to work on the river bike paths, fly fishing in the Glendale Narrows, enjoying a peaceful walk along the historic bridges, or even kayaking down the navigable waterbed, here, the Los Angeles River plays an integral role for outdoor activities.
