Departures is KCET's hyper-local web documentary, community engagement tool and digital literacy program about the cultural history of Los Angeles' neighborhoods.
With the launch of KCET Departures' Field Guides, a comprehensive guide to the Los Angeles River, one can easily discover the unexpected through self-guided activities and tours.
The growing collection of over 90 map-based field guides offer photos and videos, trails, directions, and suggestions for nearby eateries and points of interests. Listen to interviews with river advocates and enthusiasts and get the inside scoop on recreation along the L.A. River. Utilize maps to find an activity or location that you want to explore, and begin to plan your visit.
The Field Guides has something for everyone; from biking to walking paths, family friendly activities and parks, horse riding trails and sightseeing, to birdwatching and fishing sites. Go beyond the virtual, head down to the Los Angeles River and really get your feet wet!
