Very little remains of the 'original' locally run shops and restaurants in Venice. However, Chris Featherstone of Glencrest BBQ has served southern style food for over twenty years. He's one of a few locals, and the only African American owner left on Abbot Kinney Boulevard. He remembers the black owned barbershop that used to be next door, and the jazz club across the street. Now he hardly knows anyone, and explains that it's so competitive; establishments turn over in less than a year.
