Venice not only seems to embrace a diverse cultural landscape, but an economic one as well. Over the years, the property values have increased drastically, yet the homeless population remains strong. There is a strong push however, to rid the streets of homeless. LAPD surfs the streets to keep the homeless from setting up cardboard condos or other makeshift residential living structures. But like many things in Venice, this push to kick the homeless out is not happening without a fight. Dr. John, a homeless resident here, is the self-proclaimed Mayor of Venice. He organizes and tries to build a resistance to this movement.
