The Youth Voices student producers created digital murals of their neighborhood and the places that are meaningful to them. Each mural contains 3 to 4 hot spots and a brief description below of these places as well as some information on their experience in Youth Voices. Click on the image at the bottom to view the mural.
My mural is based on the history I have with different places in my community, like the animal shelter, where I get my cat and dog vaccinated and where I volunteer. Franklin is where I made friends that are like family to me. The Swap Mall is where I like to talk to a man that knows a lot about many things. El Arco Iris is the restaurant where my late grandmother loved to have the whole family come together. This is my mural. It's my history.
I would describe Departures Youth Voices as a fun way to learn about your community and a new way to make new friends and connections that will last forever.
Support for the Departures is provided through these funders as well as local community partners and viewers like you.

My mural is my own personal favorite places in Highland Park. They are the places I go when I don't' want to be home or at a friends house. They make Highland Park a better place for me.
