So... departures is coming to a close :( but on a lighter note: it's been a wonderful experience :) I've, admittedly, learned more than i've ever cared to learn about the river, which in itself is an amazing accomplishment. I commend Departures and KCET for the opportunities they've given me. Thanks to them, I've visited places all along the LA River and talked to people who believe in its potential. Before Departures I didn't think much about it, it was an ugly dirty place unworthy of my attention. I wondered why it was even called a river; the section of the river i saw was never full except when it rained and even then you'd see dead unrecognizable things flowing down. The river
