Claudia Espinoza

WELA YMCA Youth Institute, is part of the Building Healthy Communities (BHC) initiative funded by The California Endowment.Youth are exploring and investigating how the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) can empower and improve their local school communities.


What grade are you in and what school do you go to?
I am a senior at Roosevelt High School.

What's the most important thing to know about you?
My favorite color is red.

What neighborhood do you call home?
Around Boyle Heights.

Where is the first and last place you would take a new visitor in your neighborhood?
The first place I would take someone would be Mariachi Plaza or maybe Chinatown. The last place I would take some one would be the scarier sides of Downtown L.A.

What object connects you to your neighborhood? How does it link you to your community?
Cameras because photography is something I really enjoy doing and it's very fun. It relates to school because I am part of yearbook and my community because I am able to go out and take picture. It connects me to my family and friends because we take pictures together.
