Free Lunch is KCET.org's new food initiative! The idea is pretty simple: once a week we treat one of our kcet.org commenters to lunch at a reasonably-priced restaurant in the Los Angeles area.
To become eligible, all you need to do is leave us a comment below telling us you're interested. We will meet you at a restaurant of our mutual choosing and simply ask that you allow us to tape you afterward talking about your lunch experience. This short 3-minute video of you reviewing the restaurant will be posted here at kcet.org/socal/food/freelunch for other people to see. Here's a little video we made about this program:
PLEASE NOTE: there's no need to leave your contact info in the comments, we will email you at the email address you use to register with kcet.org.
We're looking for unbiased, SOCAL consumers to share their honest opinions with us and our audience. Free Lunch is about food, but we want it to be both fun and transparent. If you have a relationship to a given restaurant, please DO NOT request or agree to a lunch there so that we can avoid any possible conflicts of interest. We welcome chefs, bloggers and journalists, but we ask that you do not use this program as a marketing or publicity opportunity for yourself or any business.
Best regards,
The KCET Food Team

Woot. What a good idea. Reviews from real people are so much better than having to look up where to eat on your phone! And eating free is awesome too.

This is fantastic & reminds me of WTTW's Check, Please! http://www.wttw.com/main.taf?p=1,49,1 It's great seeing the "common (wo)man" with some interest in food, giving a (half) honest opinion. Even better is the actual production, shot with some KCET expertise and nicely edited. We're all tired of the rather sad iPhone restaurant "reviews".
Mike says :
This sounds like a lot of fun! It would be a nice step into the journalism/food review realm for me!
