Getting involved doesn't require anything except time. Here are three easy ways to share your most important resource next week.
The Los Angeles Public Library is looking for docents, readers and all-around book lovers:
Volunteering at the Los Angeles Public Library connects you with the world of literacy, cultural diversity, and learning. Rewarding opportunities exist at the Central Library and branch facilities. In all cases, excellent training is provided to ensure that your volunteer experience is both enjoyable and fruitful.
The Good Shepherd Mother-Child Residence is looking for female volunteers to work with homeless kids between the ages of 5 and 12 next week on April 15th. "The world is scary when you don't have a permanent place to call home. Ease the uncertainty of the youngsters at the Mother-Child Residence by engaging them in arts and crafts activities while their moms attend a social service class that evening."
Like kids? Love animals? K9 Connection offers a way to bring your interests together with "a year-round program providing essential counseling, guidance and ongoing mentoring to high-risk youth and at-risk teens with the assistance of homeless shelter dogs throughout the greater Los Angeles area. Now in its fourth year of operations, k9 connection has served over 150 students and rescued countless homeless shelter dogs that deserved a second chance."
As always, if you have any suggestions about volunteering opportunities, tweet them over to @SoCalConnected!
