The couple volunteers together, as a family with their daughter, and separately. As a couple they were honored this year by Na'amat.
The couple volunteers for Family Promise, and interfaith organization helping homeless families to achieve lasting independence, as well as Temple Adat Ari El, SOVA, and Habitat for Humanity.
For the past five years have participated in Cardboard Box City and Empty Bowl, spending a night experiencing the harsh conditions of homeless people in Los Angeles.
Mike went alone as volunteer on a mission to Mississippi for a week to replace roofs and build houses after Hurricane Katrina.
Ruth Devine became employed at Family Promise, an organization that partners with various community groups to provide a way out of homelessness for thousands of people in Los Angeles through her volunteer work at Adat Are El.
Former members of the Wilshire Boulevard Temple where they ran the WBT food pantry for 10 years.
