There are hundreds of charitable organizations across southern California that are making life better for the less fortunate. KCET's SoCal Cares puts the spotlight on non-profits whose good works often go unnoticed. These short segments air regularly on KCET. This segment of SoCal Cares features the good work of, St. Anne's.
St. Anne's provides quality, comprehensive services to nearly 800 at-risk teenage mothers and their children, most of whom are in the foster care system. Many are neglected or emotionally and physically abused. St. Anne's offers a network of services including safe housing, free child care, education and vocational support, mental health services and life skills, all aimed at helping young women become good mothers and responsible citizens.

This is a very touching story. I believe that the assitance that St. Anne provides to these teenage mothers will ensure that they and their children have bright futures. However, I question the type of couseling they provide to these young mothers when it comes to teaching their children about values. I could not help but notice the LARGE diamond earring that was on one of the children's left ear. What type of moral values are they teaching this child - one based excess and being materialistic?
