I think it's safe to say - as sad as it is - that any lasting fall color in Southern California is coming to an end. Last night, extremely strong Santa Ana winds swept across the region, pushing a plethora of color to the ground. The high gusts experienced so far are are expected to continue through Friday.
And wind did not only affect Southern California: it took to the Sacramento area Wednesday, leaving California Fall Color blogger John Poimiroo with two striking before-and-after photos; over at Mammoth Mountain, a gust reached up to 150 mph; and Lake Tahoe experienced some decent wave action.
Now that this leaf peeping season is coming to an end, it's time to think about where you want to go next year (I'd really like to see this beautiful scene in person). Start with this post of ours: The 7 Best Spots for Fall Color in California.
