Cultural Journalism and the Southland
This issue of webstories documents the Artists, Activists, and Citizens as they re-imagine the city of Los Angeles as a living environment, reclaiming its geography and resources. This includes the proposal for replacement of the domestic front lawns with highly productive edible landscapes, collective Fallen Fruit maps local public fruit trees, a multi-disciplinary investigation of land use issues, and guided educational hikes of the various ecologies that make up L.A.

In this issue of webstories, we will explore the rise of backyard parties as we take a look at the evolution of DJ culture from the 1970’s to the present. In each decade we will explore one famous party, tracing the evolution and development of fashion, music and culture in L.A.
