Why does KCET have so many fundraising drives?
 

In order to survive and provide a truly high quality program service that is an effective addition to commercial television, we rely on a variety of funding devices. The single most effective device is using our own broadcast air to request viewers help pay for this service.  Please know that every donation is critical in helping keep KCET on the air.  Nearly half of our financial support, that means 50% of our operating funds, comes from the generosity of donors like you. 

Please also note that based on recent analysis of the amount of time dedicated to on-air fundraising for a selected group of 10 stations, KCET dedicates significantly less time on-air to fundraising than stations elsewhere in California and other stations in the country. 

How do I buy the dvd/videotape for a program I saw on KCET?
 
You have a number of options. You can check support.kcet.org on this website or visit our ShopKCET link.  While on the ShopKCET link, remember to use our promotional code: KCETLA for your 10% discount.  If you sign up as a new member on this site, you will receive a 25% discount!  You may also contact our Member Services Department at (323) 953-5238 Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm for further information regarding video availability.

How many people watch KCET?
 
There are approximately 3.5 million viewers per week that watch KCET throughout eleven different counties in Southern and Central California.  Unfortunately, only 1 in 10 of those viewers are KCET members.  We hope that no matter your level of support, you will decide to make a difference and become a member today!

Why didn’t I receive my KCET Monthly Program Guide?
 
We will be happy to send you a new KCET Monthly Program Guide if you missed a month. Your membership may have lapsed briefly while your renewal was being processed, or we may not have received your address change in time. Sometimes, guides just get lost in the mail. Remember that it may take up to 8 weeks for any changes made to your account to take effect.

How can I find out when my KCET membership expires?
 
You may refer to your KCET Infinity Discount Card or the label of your KCET Monthly Program Guide to find out when your membership expires.  You may also contact our Member Services Department at (323) 953-5238, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Why do I get renewal notices when I’ve already sent in my renewal?
 
You may continue to get renewal requests while we process your membership contribution. Because it takes several weeks to process all the mail we receive, and because we send the notices several weeks in advance, we aren’t able to stop these letters immediately. We ask for your patience during this time. If you have reason to suspect your membership renewal didn’t reach us, please call our Member Services Department at (323) 953-5238 Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Can I renew my membership online?

Does KCET exchange its membership lists with other organizations?
 
KCET does exchange membership lists with some charitable organizations and other select mailers. As a non-profit organization dependent upon member support, we find this a very successful and efficient way to reach potential donors. We respect your privacy in every way--if you would like to have your name removed from our exchange list, please contact our Member Services Department at (323) 953-5238 Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. KCET has never exchanged lists with any political party or organization, and this is expressly prohibited in our company policy.
How do I get my child’s birthday announced on air? How do I know when the announcement will air?
 
In order to have your child’s name read on-air, you need to be a member of KCET’s Kid’s Club, verifying that you are the parent or legal guardian of the child (children) and have submitted your child’s name and birthday. The Kid’s Club is a membership for both you and your child. With a minimum donation of $75.00, you will receive a personal on-air birthday greeting for up to three children during the week of their birthday. We will also send a plush toy of your choice (Clifford, Elmo, Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch, Maya, or Miguel), and a backpack filled with surprise goodies and activity materials, as well as invitations to special events. When you join the Kid’s Club, you will also receive 12 issues of our KCET Monthly Program Guide and a KCET Infinity Discount Card that gets you discounts at many local establishments. If you are already a member, we can renew your membership for an additional year. It’s important that we have a minimum of three weeks lead-time in order to prepare the birthday announcement. Make sure to call us on the Friday of the week before your child’s birthday to find out the day and time of your child’s birthday announcement. Please call our Member Services Department at (323) 953-5238 Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm to sign up.
How do I know if my company has a Matching Gifts Program?
 
To find out if your company has a Matching Gifts Program, please contact your company’s Human Resources office. Many employers share your commitment to KCET and will double or even triple your donation. For a complete list of employers who participate in the Matching Gifts Program, please check out the Matching Gifts Page on our website at support.kcet.org or call our Member Services Department at (323) 953-5238 Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. If your employer is not currently listed, they still may be interested in becoming a part of the Matching Gifts Program. Please have your employer contact our Matching Gifts Department at (323) 953-5471.
Why did I get this solicitation asking me to become a new member of KCET if I am already an existing member?
 
We exchange names and addresses with other not-for-profit organizations in order to extend our membership roster. Before attempting to capture these potential new members, we cross-reference our database to verify if they are existing members. Please be aware that if your name or address appears even slightly differently on the new list, the computer will not detect it as a match. When this happens, you may receive a letter asking you to become a member.
Is my contribution tax-deductible? Who can I contact to get a receipt for my contribution?
 
Yes, all contributions made to KCET are tax-deductible, except for the fair market value of your KCET Monthly Program Guide subscription and/or any thank-you gifts you might have received.  If you would like a copy of your receipt, please feel free to contact our Member Services Department at (323) 953-5238, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

What is The Sustainer Circle?
 
The Sustainer Circle (formerly known as our 21st Century Program or Continuing Contributor Program) allows you to support KCET by setting up an automatic monthly contribution of any dollar amount ($10 per month or more).  Your donation may be electronically transferred from your bank account each month, or automatically charged to your credit card.  An automatic monthly donation helps KCET save money in processing fees and mailing costs.  This is an ongoing contribution that may only be cancelled at your request.  If you are interested in joining, please contact our Member Services Department at (323) 953-5238, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. 
I made a contribution during the last drive. Where’s my thank-you gift?
 
Normally, it takes 6-8 weeks from the end of the fundraising drive, or from the time we process your contribution, for the gift to be shipped. On rare occasions, there can be additional delays because national demand for an item may slow down our distributors. Many items will ship from our warehouse immediately, and some will take the full 8 weeks. We welcome your calls or emails and will do everything possible to get your thank-you gift to you quickly.
Can I get a thank-you gift from a previous fundraising drive?
 
It is often possible to receive thank-you gifts from our past fundraising drives.  If you are interested in any of our past gifts, please contact our Member Services Department at (323) 953- 5238 Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
