Foundation Giving

On the air, online and in the community, KCET brings the highest-quality public media and community outreach services to households across Southern and Central California. Philanthropic foundations play a critical role in our ability to make our programming and services freely accessible to all. Find out more about becoming a KCET foundation partner.

Contributing to KCET

KCET would not be able to provide the kind of high-quality public media programming and community services we do without generous contributions from private, family, corporate and community foundations. Our foundation partners provide vital underwriting for KCET's national, regional and local productions, such as Tavis Smiley, Sid the Science Kid, A Place of Our Own, Los Ninos en Su Casa, SoCal Connected and California's Gold. Foundations also offer critical underwriting support for our award-winning documentary films, such as World War II Behind Closed Doors: Stalin, the Nazis and the West and Andrew Jackson: Good, Evil & the Presidency, which we produce for national broadcast on  . Some of our foundation partners designate their gifts toward specific areas of our programming, such as children & education; news & current affairs; nature, science & technology; and the arts.

We also rely on foundation support for our many free community outreach services, including educational workshops for families; the annual Family Day at KCET's Los Angeles studios; and our events honoring African American, American Indian, Asian Pacific American and Hispanic Heritage Months, as well as Gay & Lesbian Pride Month.

As a non-profit public service organization, we rely heavily on contributed income to ensure that we continue to provide freely accessible programming and services to the diverse communities of Southern and Central California. Additionally, as a   member station, we pay significant annual dues for the right to broadcast the national   schedule, and we rely on contributions to offset these costs. Foundation giving accounts for 10% of KCET's annual organizational budget.

KCET's monthly audience is 4.6 million individual people. As a KCET foundation partner, your contribution will benefit the many diverse households that compromise our service area. You can take pride in an investment that educates, informs and inspires the community through much-needed programming and services. It's an investment you can count on; for five consecutive years, the American public has declared   to be the most trustworthy institution in the country (SOURCE: national surveys conducted by the non-partisan international research company GfK Roper Public Affairs & Media).
