Where your Dollars Go

Did you know that nearly 60% of our operating budget comes from individual donors like you or that it takes $95,000 a day to keep KCET on the air and online? While network television belongs primarily to advertisers, KCET belongs solely to you. You are key in helping us create programming and interactive content that introduces people to new ideas, promotes healthy lifestyles, stimulates dialogue, celebrates individual accomplishments, raises awareness of vital issues and connects individuals to valuable resources throughout Southern and Central California.

Examples of how donor contributions made an impact in 2009:
  • During Los Angeles County's Station Fire, KCET's SoCal Connected kept our community informed like no other, with live updates around the clock.
  • The KCET-produced children's show Sid the Science Kid featured a special about flu vaccinations to educate young children and families.
  • In collaboration with community partners nationwide, KCET's Ready to Learn and Early Education Training Program has trained over 40,000 teachers, parents and child care providers in the educational use of media, impacting over 250,000 children.
