Snowfall in Los Angeles is not unheard of, but, save for its most northern foothill neighborhoods, it doesn't happen all that often on the Valley floor or in the basin. On the other hand, hail does occur somewhat more often, and this afternoon in at least the southeastern portion of the San Fernando Valley it came down pretty hard as reports surfaced of actual snowfall in the northeastern valley.
