My Los Angeles adventure would be a fabulous Sunday brunch at the Sunset Marquis ~ followed by light window shopping on Melrose Avenue, a quick trip to LACMA (I have a pass, after all!) to see the latest exhibit, an early dinner at Bar Pintxo, one of my absolutely favorite restaurants (and best tapas bar ever) located in Santa Monica, and to top the night off either a double-feature of cult favorites at the Egyptian Theater OR a rockin' evening at the California Institute of the Abnormal Arts.

My LA adventure starts with the weekend brunch at the Odyssey Restaurant followed by a trip to the Huntington Library & Gardens. Then a drive to Santa Monica for a stroll on the beach and shopping on the 3rd Street Promenade. Finish it up with dinner somewhere on Restaurant Row on La Cienaga Blvd and call it a night!

For a lovely, free afternoon, drive around the beautiful Palos Verdes Peninsula, stopping in at the Point Vicente Interpretive Center. From there, walk along the well-maintained trails, admiring breathtaking views of the ocean. The Center provides an excellent veiwing area for spotting whales, dolphins, seals and other sea creatures and informative exhibits are available inside.
On the second Saturday of each month, a visitor may enter the adjacent Coast Guard property and climb up the lighthouse tower and visit the small museum.
The walk continues past the lighthouse to the Terranea Resort for a well-deserved drink and snack on the patio of Nelson's, where you can enjoy a sepctacular view while the cozy fire pit and warm afternoon sun will make you want to linger until sunset.

My favorite Los Angeles area destination is Pt. Mugu, for camping and hiking. A great way to finish off a weekend away there is to stop at Neptune's Net on the PCH for some people watching (and fried fish, of course) and then continue back down the PCH into Santa Monica.

Okay, I will risk the egg on my shame-filled face. Movie reference? I know it's not Big Lebowski... (I hope!)

Come south of the 10 for once - a sunny morning over at the Watts Towers

As was said, "Variety is the spice of life". Go west, there is the beach. Anywhere along the coast, the sunset is a sight to behold. Go towards the mountain and within hours, the crisp air is just so inviting. Go far enough to the east, one can play in the desert sand.
Variety is what Los Angeles is about. And remember, that goes without saying, it simply applies to the wonders of food as well.

My favorite spot in LA is an often forgotten gem right in downtown! I love taking friends to Clifton's Cafeteria for a glimpse into the city's storied history. Not only is the food good, and the ambiance charming, but the history of the restaurant chain and the family so interesting! Make sure to visit the 3rd floor where they have tons of memorabilia up on the walls (at least before the renovations that are about to go underway).

My ideal LA adventure is shopping! Starting downtown with Santee Alley, then hitting Melrose Avenue and The Grove, moving on to 3rd Street, and then ending at the other 3rd Street - The Promenade in Santa Monica. LA = Retail THERAPY! :)

My ideal LA adventure would be... to first go to Hollywood just driving down Sunset. Catch a movie at the El Capitan and then enjoy a sweet treat at the Disney Soda Fountain. Picking a few cds up at Amoeba Records before heading off to the beach area. I'd Enjoy a nice stroll down 3rd Street before kicking off my shoes soaking my feet in the sand and water. Ending my day with watching the beautiful seaside sunset.
