Toni Plummer

Toni Margarita Plummer is the author of The Bolero of Andi Rowe, a story collection set in South El Monte and the San Gabriel Valley. She grew up in South El Monte, where she rode her bike at Legg Lake, got ice cream from the Driftwood Dairy, danced tap and ballet at the community center, and attended Epiphany Catholic School. She went on to receive a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Notre Dame and a Master of Professional Writing from USC. About ten years ago she became a New Yorker and works as an editor at St. Martin's Press, where she met her husband. Toni is on the board for Kweli Journal, an online literary magazine. Her most recent publication is a personal essay in the anthology Wise Latinas: Writers on Higher Education.

For me, Epiphany Church was the first place in which I was part of a larger community that extended beyond my family. It was youth, and it's still my South El Monte.
