VOD: Earthquake Preparedness

The tragic news out of Italy should be a reminder to Angelenos to make sure we're ready for our own, likely inevitable, earthquakes. Below are a few Italy-related videos, followed up by series of locally-focused earthquake preparedness resources.

The video below was taken by an amateur seismologist: "This mornings (6/4/2009) Quake , Recorded In Bedfordshire UK on my home built seismograph.Video id sped up 16 times."

Two myths debunked: In addition to educating yourself about what you need to know you should also be aware of two long standing myths that are not the best advice for you.

Myth 1: Standing in a doorway is safe

Myth 2: Triangle of life will save you

You've probably heard of the triangle of life, there is an email that is making the rounds that sounds very authoritative on the subject, but this is NOT applicable outside of Third World countries that do not have the strict building codes we are lucky to have here in California.
