"Roger Daltrey Presents: Teen Cancer America" is a special programming lineup featuring the legendary front man for The Who, Roger Daltrey, speaking about his involvement in raising awareness around the special needs of teenage cancer patients through his non-profit organization Teen Cancer America. The special lineup kicks off on Saturday, October 8 at 8:00 p.m. on KCET with the documentary "Amazing Journey: The Story of The Who" followed by a short documentary by filmmaker and teen cancer survivor Hernan Barangan that was executive produced by Daltrey and Teen Cancer America called “Road Rebellion.”
Roger Daltrey’s commitment to teenagers with cancer is a result of his realization of how much his music has impacted teenagers, and how this age group in particular has contributed to his success in life. “These are your teenagers. They need your support,” says Daltrey. “They are your community and they are your future. They deserve to have better treatment!” He has demonstrated his support by helping the foundation and growth of Teenage Cancer Trust in the UK for 26 years. The charity helps teenagers have a better hospital experience while going through treatment for cancer.
The transformational success of the specialist teen facilities and programs established by Teenage Cancer Trust motivated Roger Daltrey and fellow The Who band mate Pete Townshend to set up Teen Cancer America and bring the model to the U.S. Teen Cancer America’s mission is to provide special facilities for teens and young adults suffering from cancer and to develop teams of experts that understand how best to support them and treat the rare cancers that affect them.
Daltrey kicks off this one night only special event with an on-camera introduction followed by a request to viewers to support KCET independent public television and the L.A.-based Teen Cancer America. The portion of proceeds going to the charity’s facilities across the country will make life a little easier for teens going through cancer treatment. Contributions will help pay for installing technology, video games, music consoles in state of the art interior design as well as therapeutic programs connecting teens in similar situations.
During the broadcast, KCET will offer viewers a chance to get a pair of premium reserved seats for all three days of the Desert Trip Concert in Indio, California from October 14-16 featuring The Who, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Roger Waters. Reserved, individual, floor seating will include access to the Platinum Lounge, featuring shaded picnic areas, picnic tables, couches, extra restrooms, food and beverage vendors and a full cash bar. Also included is one Platinum Level parking pass.

Amazing Journey: The Story of The Who
"Amazing Journey: The Story of The Who" is a behind-the-scenes, Grammy® nominated documentary featuring interviews with the band's two surviving members, Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey. The 2007 documentary about English rock and roll band The Who features interviews with band members as well as Sting, The Edge, Noel Gallagher, Eddie Vedder, Steve Jones and others, as well as rare photos of the four members of the band, including archival live footage of performances dating back to 1964.
Road Rebellion
"Road Rebellion" follows filmmaker and leukemia survivor Hernan Barangan as he aims to change the face of U.S. healthcare for teenagers and young adults with cancer. In 2015, Barangan set out on a quest to film the voices of young cancer patients from every state in the country. Their stories raise the profile of their unique challenges. The filmmaker plans to create a lasting legacy for the young people of the future.
