ASSOCIATE WEB EDITOR DIGITAL TEMPORARY (THROUGH JUNE 2014), FULL-TIME - EXEMPT POSITION; BURBANK OFFICES
KCETLink is looking for an Associate Web Editor
with a journalism background. This is a
Burbank-based position through June 2014, working 40-hours a week. The Associate
Web Editor will be responsible for curating, writing, and publishing
international news updates to the news.linktv.org
website, as well as supervising and editing updates from other contributors.
The role requires a web-savvy journalist who is comfortable
posting original pieces, editing the work of others, and curating compelling
multimedia content from third-party sources. The editor will be required to
make editorial decisions with minimal supervision. This
position reports to the Managing Editor, Link World News (based in San
Francisco) and the VP of Digital (based in Burbank).

in journalism and/or media.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
successful candidate must have the demonstrated ability, as follows:
Proven experience copy editing for the web, (preferably) including
use of AP or Chicago Manual of Style
Writing, with published samples
Familiarity with blogging platforms, particularly WordPress
Experience with photo-editing applications including
Experience and familiarity with social networking sites and
Basic HTML/CSS skills
Excellent attention to detail
The ability to work independently and be self-driven
Personable demeanor with
good communication skills
- A minimum of
two years of transferable experience in journalism and/or media
Experience curating multimedia news content
Substantial online social media presence
Experience with online video: editing, encoding, publishing
Communications experience (outreach or marketing)
Familiarity with newsletter management tools, preferably MailChimp
with demonstrated skills and experience.
