When students have input the top down structure of schools is disrupted in a way that can be empowering for students and provide both academic and social skills.
Students ask questions and explore ideas that are meaningful to them and their experiences. This facilitates deeper and richer conversations about important issues in their community.
Presenting to the PTSA gave students an opportunity to share information about their school garden project and bring more people on board to support their efforts.
