KCET Nominated for 43 SoCal Journalism Awards, More Than Any Other L.A.-Based Broadcast Station
KCET is proud to announce that it has received 43 nominations for the 60th annual Southern California Journalism Awards presented by the Los Angeles Press Club. The station's nominations include 24 for its acclaimed news program "SoCal Connected," the most of any local television show in Los Angeles, including a nomination for “Best Talk/Public Affairs Show,” reporter Nic Cha Kim as “Television Journalist of the Year,” and Val Zavala for “Best Television Host/Anchor.” KCET’s multi-media arts and culture series "Artbound" received four nominations. Also nominated is KCET’s historical series, "Lost L.A.," produced in conjunction with the USC Libraries archives, garnering a total of five nominations.
Other original series from KCET receiving nominations are "Tending the Wild," "City Rising," and "The Migrant Kitchen" as well as nomination for kcet.org as “Best Website.” KCET received the second highest number of nominations (after the Los Angeles Times) of any other southern California media outlet and the most for any broadcast station. The 2018 Southern California Journalism Awards will be presented on Sunday. June 24 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.
