Miguel Angel Vazquez, AICP and Karla Martinez

Miguel Angel Vazquez, AICP, is an urban planner for the Riverside County Department of Public Health. He is one of the first planners hired by a public health department in the nation. His role at the County of Riverside Department of Public Health is to strengthen the integration of planning and health through collaboration with non-traditional partners.

Karla, 16, has been a youth reporter with Coachella Unincorporated for two years covering issues like voter registration and community violence prevention. In April 2015, Karla was awarded the Young Lady of the Year Award for Riverside County District 4. She is an aspiring urban planner.

Vazquez and Karla collaborated on the Land Use Planning Awareness (LUPA) program.
