Sara Solaimani

I met Amy Sánchez, Misael Díaz, and Kate Clark as colleagues at the UCSD Department of Visual Arts, where I am working on my Art History Ph.D. on the roots of contemporary border performance art, 1970s to the present. I also adjunct at the SDSU Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies where I received my M.A. and teach an ongoing writing course with a Border Art History emphasis at UCSD’s Muir College Writing Program.

The Border Trolley Tours, happening in June, revive the old route of the San Diego-“Tia Juana” tour, leading groups of participants on stops between the park and the border. It offer visitors an unvarnished look at history along the contested space.
